JUST OUT OF THE ORDINARY

Just out of the ordinary is a project developed by the System of Valle Camonica Museums in collaboration with the Archive of Ethnography and Social History of the Lombardy Region. Promoted and supported by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity in the context of the public program “Strategia Fotografia 2020”, Just out of the ordinary involves three different authors,  José Pedro Cortes (Porto, 1976), Cyrille Weiner (Parigi, 1976) and Alessandra Spranzi (Milano, 1962). The project foresees an artistic residency with each author and the production of a book published by A+MBookstore. The residences of the authors will coincide with three workshops, open to all, which work in continuity with the itinerant training method of the Master Iuav in Photography.

Just out of the ordinary is a project curated by Elena Turetti, Stefano Graziani, Marta Tonelli and Sara Bassi.

THE THEME
JUST OUT OF THE ORDINARY

Alpine communities retain a capacity to relate with the natural environment so preponderant that it connotes their way of seeing and explaining the world. From this relationship with the landscape, private and collective practices have been born, several spaces are still used today by the inhabitants of the alpine valleys or reused by new inhabitants in completely different ways. A system of values, distant from the orthodoxy of a religion or a political system, persists and constructs heterodox relationships between people, between people and beasts, between the individual and the community. The relationship with the natural environment does affect the way of living, the way of building social relationships, the way people nurture themselves, the way they imagine forms of representation, of foreseeing a possible future.

Alpine communities must be imagined as a singular, original, and strong reality and not only as a marginal phenomenon compared to large urban centers. As an alternative way of living and working. How can we gather this special relationship with the natural environment? Ordinary compared to which culture? Ordinary? Familiar? Daily? Domestic? Near?

INFO AND COSTS
The price for each workshop is € 450.

To apply for the workshops, please send the registration form (available in the PDF below) and a motivational letter detailing your education and current interests to info@masterinphotography.com.
In case of Covid ordinances that will prevent the workshops’s development a full refund will be provided. 50% of the paid amount will be refunded if the cancellation is received at least ten days before the beginning of the chosen workshop.
