Armin Linke

Armin Linke (born in 1966, lives in Milan and Berlin) is a photographer and filmmaker combining a range of contemporary image-processing technologies to blur the border between fiction and reality. His artistic practice is concerned with different modalities of approaching photographic archives and their respective manifestations, as well as with the interrelations and transformative forces between urban, architectural or spatial functions and the human being interacting with these environments. In working with his own archive, but also with other photo-historical archives, Linke puts into question the conventions of photographic practice due to his increasing consideration of the installation, display and social usage of photography. He was Research Affiliate at MIT Visual Arts Program Cambridge, guest professor at IUAV University in Venice and he is currently professor at the HfG Karlsruhe. Exhibition projects in the last years include Carlo Mollino – Maniera Moderna, Haus der Kunst, Munich (2011) or The Body of the State, MAXXI, Rome. In 2012, he participated at the 13 Venice Architecture Bienniale with three projects and co-curated Double Bound Economies, shown in Leipzig, Geneva, Zurich and Berlin. Between 2013-2014 Armin Linke, together with Territorial Agency and Anselm Franke, conceptualized the Anthropocene Observatory video series and exhibitions at Haus der Kulturen der Welt  Berlin. Until summer 2016, his solo exhibition The Appearance of That Which Cannot be Seen forms part of the GLOBALE at ZKM Karlsruhe.
